Åland really is one of the most beautiful spots I have ever seen and the perfect place to let your daily life behind you. The Getaway was just the right thing for relaxing, being outdoors, turn off your phone and stop worrying, exactly what I needed after I thought I'd lose my mind after a few very busy weeks this summer! Countless islands, magical bays, endless skies - what could you need more to let your mind reset. Apart from lounging about on the rocks behind our cottage, there are of course a few more things to do.

October 17, 2015 at 18:05The Åland Islands have intrigued me ever since I was in Finland last year, sailing through them on the overnight ferry into Turku: I knew I was missing out on something!
I’ve read a bit about them since and they sound perfect!
The food you’ve described looks and reads as delicious, I really want to try the Åland pancake! All those berries just make me want to head back up to Scotland where we have wild bilberries (we call them blaeberries) in the forests. The ticks sound a bit horrific though, must remember to pack my tick socks next year, thanks for the warning!
